Summit County Ambulance Service Celebrates EMS Week 2007 with Ambulance Tours and Free CPR/AED and First Aid Classes The American College of Emergency Physicians has designated May 20 - 26 as EMS Week 2007 to honor and recognize pre-hospital emergency care providers. The Paramedics and EMTs of Summit County Ambulance Service will be in the community during EMS Week 2007 giving tours of the ambulance and providing blood pressure checks.

Ambulance tours and blood pressure checks will be held in conjunction with the Red, White and Blue Fire District on May 22nd at the Community & Senior Center located at 0151 Peak One Blvd. in Frisco from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., May 24th at the Breckenridge Recreation Center from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and May 25th at the City Market in Breckenridge from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. The Ambulance Service is also sponsoring two free classes during EMS Week 2007. The first is a First Aid Class, which will be held on May 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Community & Senior Center in Frisco. A free CPR/AED class will be held on May 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Keep the Beat Office in the Columbine Square Complex, 669 Summit Boulevard in Frisco. Class sizes are limited and registration is mandatory - please call (970) 668-9466 for registration and more information.

Summit County Ambulance Service (SCAS) is a non-tax funded entity (enterprise fund) of Summit County Government and is fully dependant on revenues from patient billing. The Ambulance Service employs 20 full-time Paramedics, 3 full-time EMTs and 27 part-time EMT Paramedics, Intermediates and Basics. In addition to being certified by Colorado and the National Registry of EMTs, many of Summit County Ambulance Service's paramedics hold certifications in Critical Care Transport and Pediatric Life Support. Crews usually work 24-hour shifts on one of three ambulances stationed in Summit County.
