What do I need to do if I rent my furnished Summit County home or condo?
Furnishings in a rented home or condominium are considered business personal property.
Business personal property in Colorado needs to be declared with the County Assessor so that it can be valued.
Personal property can be declared online, via mail, email or fax. Call the Assessor’s office at 970-453-3480 for more information.
Sales tax (and lodging tax in municipalities) must also be paid on any rentals of 30 days or less. This must be paid to the State Department of Revenue and the municipality.
For more information about sales and lodging tax, call the County Finance Dept at 970-453-3432 or go to the County webpage where there is a sales tax link on the left side of the home page.
