Summit County Clerk & Recorder Cheri Brunvand
Cheri Brunvand was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado and moved to Summit County in 1984 after graduating from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
In 1986 she obtained a position in the secretarial pool for the Summit County Manager’s Office. Three years later Ms. Brunvand was hired as an Administrative Clerk for the Clerk and Recorder’s Office. Between 1991 and 1995, Cheri held the title of Motor Vehicle Supervisor. In 1995, she was promoted to Chief Deputy County Clerk and Recorder. In this capacity she assisted with the administrative duties of the various divisions of the office. In September of 1997 the Summit County Board of Commissioners appointed Cheri to serve as County Clerk and Recorder. In November of 1998 she was elected to the Office of Summit County Clerk.
Cheri received her master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Denver, in Public Affairs. In 2002, she received her comprehensive Chancellor Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Missouri. Ms. Brunvand is certified as a County Clerk and Recorder and has also received her Certified Municipal Clerk status and is at the second level of the Master Municipal Clerk status.
Cheri was appointed as the Local Vital Statistic Registrar for Summit County representing the state of Colorado. Her memberships include the International Association of Clerk and Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers, Colorado Municipal Clerk’s Association and Certified Elections/Registration Administrator Program.
In 1998, Cheri received a National Association of Counties Achievement Award upon implementation of a program focused on student civic awareness and involvement. In 2001, Cheri received a NACO Achievement Award for facilitation of voter participation.
