| Q: What is the Colorado State University Extension Office? A: Throughout the United States, land grant colleges and universities have been established to provide education, research and extension service to the public. Colorado State University is the land grant school here. Statewide, CSU's Extension offices act as the primary outreach arm of the University. Each County office delivers research-based information and educational programs that address critical social, economic and environmental issues. Beyond this, we encourage the application of research-based knowledge in response to such issues. Q: What is the role of Summit County's Extension Office? A: Our office here in Summit County brings research information and resources of the University to Summit's citizenry covering such practical needs as youth development, natural resources/wildlife management, horticulture, family consumer science, food and nutrition. In order to carry out Cooperative Extension 's mission, we respond to requests for outreach education and information while placing primary importance on identifying program strategies that serve customer needs effectively.
