Taxing Entities List

SUMMIT COUNTY, COLORADO
November 2007
Taxing Entities Contact Information:
Government, Schools, Hospitals, Conservation Districts, Towns, Water & Sanitation Districts, Metropolitan Districts, Fire Districts

Each year County Commissioners, City Councils, School Boards and Special Districts hold budget hearings to determine how many dollars will be needed for the following year’s operations. These hearings are usually held in September or October. Check your local newspaper for the hearing dates.

Colorado law prohibits yearly revenue increases by taxing entities unless one or more of the following occurs:

  1. An election is held and voters approve, in advance, an increase above the current revenue limitations.
  2. Local growth - determined by either a percentage change in student enrollment for school districts or based on a new construction formula for all other districts.
  3. Inflation - defined as the percentage change in the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index for Denver, Boulder. NOTE: Revenue increases are limited to a maximum of 5.5% even if inflation exceeds this percentage.

Following is a list of taxing entities along with address, phone and fax numbers when available. You may wish to contact those entities that provide services to you. (This list contains the most updated information available to our office and is subject to change without notice.)
