Our mission, described simply:
" The Summit County Public Access Defibrillation Project proposes to improve the survival rate from sudden cardiac arrest for the residents and visitors of Summit County Colorado through the development and implementation of a comprehensive multifaceted Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program in our community."
A brief history:
The Summit County Public Access Defibrillation, now know as 'Keep the Beat Summit", began as a federally funded public access defibrillation program in 2004. The Summit County Ambulance, in conjunction with the Summit County Sheriff's Office, applied for and received grant funding provided by the US Department of Health and Human Services to place Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in our community. Over the three-year life of the grant, the Keep the Beat Summit project was able to deploy more then 180 AEDs throughout our community and training more then 1,000 lay- rescuers in CPR and AED use.
Into the future:
The Keep the Beat Summit project continues on today! This web site serves as a reference for project participants as well as a description of the program we have developed.
